Matt and his family—otherwise known as the Farlow4—returned home to California in 2011 after spending 3 ½ years in St Andrews, Scotland where Matt completed a Ph.D. in Theology and Literature at The University of St Andrews. Matt’s doctoral research focused on humanity’s participation in God’s drama of reconciliation. His project explored Christ’s incarnational performance with a keen interest in understanding how the Church is called to emulate this profound and transformational performance through the Spirit.

Matt is a life-long learner and hopes to continue to grow in understanding how it is through our relationship and identity in Christ that we come to realize what it means to be an actor and participant in God’s drama.

Before moving to Scotland, Matt completed the Master of Theology at Multnomah. Matt is a proud graduate of UC Davis (Go Ags!) where he wrestled and was blessed to meet his wife, a proud UCD grad herself. Throughout their years of marriage, Kristin, Matt’s princess, and Matt have experienced the magnificent outpouring of the love of our Triune God. From this outpouring of love, Kristin and Matt have been blessed with two children.

Christ calls, the disciple follows: that is grace and commandment in one, "I will walk at liberty, for I seek thy commandments" (Ps. 119.45).
-Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship, 59.
